We are eSports Canada

A grassroots collection of volunteers from coast to coast across Canada, we refer to ourselves by what we do: students, teachers, lawyers, managers, employees. But when we get together, we're just gamers. Some of us are good, some of us are terrible, but we all have a shared vision of Canadian eSports. We'd like to see Canadians collaborating to improve the quality of eSports events in Canada. We want spectating events in every major city. We wants to see LANs cooperating across city and provincial borders. We want to see the birth of a Canadian only league, where Canadian talent can be forged and discovered. We want there to be a place where Canadians can go to learn about up-and-coming Canadian pros, Canadian teams, Canadian events--you get the idea. And we're willing to volunteer our time to try to make this happen.

Today, we're happy to announce the fruits of some of our labours: introducing eSportsCanada.ca and ESCTV.

News. Forums. Events. Pictures. All Canadian. Thanks to the hard work of our volunteers, this website is a vast improvement over its predecessor. One of the challenges Canadian players face is being discovered. The best way seems to be by making a splash at American competitions. We'd like to change that. We'd like Canadians to be able to become known in Canada without having to travel to another country. We want our pros to be able to prove themselves against Canada's best. We want the same for Canadian teams and shoutcasters. And incorporating news on our website seemed the best way to do that.

We have a volunteer news team just getting settled in. We aren't a huge corporation--our team is all-volunteer. We won't claim our product will be perfect, but we hope it will get better. We are still looking for additional volunteer writers willing to contribute one news item a week on Canadian pros, teams, casters, industry, or international news from a Canadian perspective. eSportsCanada.tv

We couldn't claim any legitimacy in eSports if we didn't have a Twitch stream: eSportsCanada.tv. On Monday evenings at 8:00 PM EST/ 5:00 PM PST, you will find our ESC TV show! This is our flagship talking-head style news program on eSports in Canada. We have had great guests so far including, Brendon "Ryze" Walker, Joshua "Clutch" Gray and Wasif "CombatEX" Khan. We have more Canadian guests planned in the coming months. Our team here is all-volunteer, too, and they're learning the ropes as they go along. But they need an audience to do it!

Aside from ESCTV, our channel is available for Canadian pros, teams, LANs and tournaments to use our channel to reach a broader audience. In fact, some have already been doing that. We've seen Team OpTiK and Sticky Flames matches being streamed on our channel fairly regularly. One of the challenges facing the Canadian audience is the fragmentation of Canadian content. We'd like our channel to be a place for the best Canadian content. We'd like you to think of us as the fledgling, shoe-string budget TSN of  eSports! Communities don't spring from the ground ready-made. They need to be built from the ground up. We ask for your participance and patience as we work to earn your loyalty. If the vision we have for eSports in Canada appeals to you, we need your support! We need you to come to our website and be help build this community. It's not meant as a replacement for the gaming communities to which you already belong. We can't replace Team Liquid or Reddit and we're not trying to. We're trying to unite Canada's city-states of gaming. Could you lend us a hand?
